Why These Products Exist

Known failure points deserve a better design

MDE Marine reengineers products with recurring factory failure points and offers practical, serviceable alternatives at a competitive price.

01
Heat Exchangers

A serviceable plate-style replacement

Our plate-style heat exchanger replaces an expensive, unserviceable OEM tube-and-bundle unit with a lightweight aluminum front and rear plate surrounding a stack of titanium plates. The assembly is bolted together and sealed with replaceable rubber gaskets, allowing it to be disassembled, rebuilt, and serviced repeatedly instead of discarded.

A weep hole on the saltwater side provides an early indication when a seal begins to fail and helps protect the aluminum plate from corrosion damage.

Scania + ZF

13L Scania transmission cooler mounting kit

The OEM transmission cooler arrangement for the 13L inline Scania engine and ZF transmission sits on a stand above the transmission and relies on hose clamps and thin rubber isolation. In observed applications, the cooler can begin wearing through the rubber in as little as 50 hours, eventually creating metal-on-metal contact and a preventable cooler failure.

Our bolt-together kit retains the transmission-mounted plate while replacing the weak mounting arrangement with thicker, more rigid rubber isolation and a sturdy formed stainless-steel strap matched to the cooler diameter. The kit is designed for straightforward installation and can be installed by a capable owner or technician.

Caterpillar

3406E, C12, C15, and C18 transmission cooler mount replacement

The factory one-piece steel band must be bent open to remove or install the transmission cooler. After it is opened once or twice, the band can fatigue and break, leaving the transmission cooler without a dependable restraint.

Our reengineered kit replaces that arrangement with thick, rigid rubber beneath the transmission cooler and a formed band that secures it without repeatedly bending the mount. The result is a more practical, secure, and service-friendly installation.

Mounts, brackets, and material reconstruction

MDE Marine also designs and fabricates one-off mounts, brackets, repair parts, and reconstructed assemblies for damaged or poorly supported marine components.

Before You Call

Send enough detail to understand the fit

  • Photos from multiple angles, including the surrounding equipment and access
  • Dimensions, measurements, drawings, or a rough hand sketch if no drawing exists
  • Engine, transmission, cooler, or component make and model information
  • Where the part lives, what it supports, and how the original failed
  • Whether the fabrication is standalone or part of a larger repair or repower
