Engine Repower

Repower project planning

A successful repower starts before the old engine comes out. MDE Marine helps define fitment, access, fabrication, supplier coordination, and vessel-system requirements so the installation has a workable plan.

Plan the fit before committing to the installation

Engine dimensions are only one piece of a repower. The plan also needs to account for transmission selection, engine-room access, mounts, cooling, exhaust, controls, hull systems, lifting, and boat-yard sequencing.

Planning

Getting the Project Started

  • Repower pre-installation checklist
  • Consulting with engine and transmission suppliers to ensure proper fitment and application
  • Coordinating and assisting with hull and other vessel systems as needed
Installation

Fabrication and Repower Integration

  • Custom engine mount estimates
  • 3D scanning and CAD modeling of the engine room for accurate measurements and layout
  • Coordination of fabrication, access, and installation requirements before work begins
Project Integration

Mechanical work and marine fabrication go hand in hand

Every repower introduces fitment questions. MDE Marine can connect the mechanical plan with custom engine mounts, cooler mounting, brackets, plumbing changes, and the other fabricated pieces required to make the new package work in the existing vessel.
